25 Weddings, 25 Positive Reviews | Virginia Wedding Photographer

Wow, what an incredible year this has been! Since we found out we were pregnant in May 2015, I knew 2016 wasn’t going to be filled with as many weddings as the previous years. I needed to be able to give my brides what they deserve from me, but also figure out what this whole mommyhood thing is all about, so I intentionally didn’t book as many weddings… and it served me well! To my 2016 brides, thank you for your love and your support. Thank you for allowing me to be the mother I needed to be for my son, and still trusting me to serve you fully and wholly on your wedding day.

Since I started asking for reviews from my tribe, this marks 3 years of weddings… a total of 82 weddings. And I’m so happy to say that I’ve received 82 positive reviews. 30/30 from 2014, 27/27 from 2015 (all while pregnant I might add) and now, 25/25, including a vow renewal and an elopement from 2016. To my couples, I love you and I thank you. :)

Bring on 2017! :)

“How do I even begin to thank you for capturing the best day of our lives SOOO beautifully!? From the moment I saw your website, I knew I wanted to work with you, and then after talking to you for the first time, it sealed the deal. Not only were you there for me as our photographer, but you were so helpful in recommending other vendors as well! We had so much fun at our first meeting for our engagement photos and you made it so easy for our true personalities to come out, and then shine through in our photos. Any nerves we had instantly went away and it made us even happier that we would have you with us on our wedding day!

It was so great to have your help with our timeline for the whole day – and you thought of ideas that I never would have in order to fit in everything we wanted. You made our friends, bridal party and family feel just as comfortable in front of the camera as you made us. To this day, Zander and I made sure we are doing the right thing with our hands in all pictures!

We were so pleasantly surprised to get our photos back within a few days of our wedding (and have heard stories of friends that have waited months for theirs!!). Our jaws hit the floor to see the amazing moments that you captured. You have such an eye for details, emotion, and capturing moments so naturally. You are so creative and used our wedding venue to capture the most amazing pictures!

Megan, we are so grateful to have met you and will cherish our wedding pictures forever! We are excited for so many other big moments in our lives and hope we have opportunities to work with you again!

Thank you for being the most amazing wedding photographer, planner, friend and beautiful llama face!”

“Words can not describe how thankful we are that you captured our special unforgettable day. After getting engaged, one of the most important vendors to me was the photographer. Once the big day comes and goes, you’ll have your loved one by your side, the memories to think back upon, and the photographs to cherish. Living in and getting married in Charlottesville, the whole wedding planning search process became overwhelming. A friend suggested I look photographers in the Lynchburg area when I came across your website. I fell in love with the blog and your amazing photography skills. Not only were the pictures out of this world, but you truly seemed to know and care about your couples. I loved how you wanted to get to know us first when I first e-mailed you and how super responsive you were about everything. I literally don’t know how you responded to all of my emails so quickly! One of the biggest things for me was making sure Logan fell at ease and that he was able to show his “true smile”. You captured that in our engagement pictures and our wedding day–even the times when I wasn’t looking or wasn’t there to encourage him to smile:) You truly made everyone feel at ease, especially on the wedding day. From meeting you in Lynchburg at the cutest little coffee shop, Logan and I both knew that you were the photographer for us–Logan was at complete ease and totally himself (you did a good job of making him laugh:) ). I also appreciated how upfront you were when you found out you were pregnant. It was very thoughtful to share the news with your clients before the public announcement; it definitely showed how much you cared about your clients and definitely made this at times anxiety-filled bride feel at ease:)

Now, on to our engagement session….time went by so fast! I can’t believe the number of amazing images you were able to capture in that time period, and I can’t get over how soon I was able to see all of them (literally, less than 24 hours!). It was a wonderful pre-birthday present:) We love, love, love our engagement pictures. Our friends and family loved them as well. I can not count the number of times friends, family or co-workers said- those are the most amazing engagement pictures I’ve ever seen. I got prints of almost all of the pictures and then had the hardest time picking the ones for our save the date.

Flash forward to the time around the wedding, you were wonderful at handling last minute details and hiccups. I truly appreciate your professionalism and your sweet words (you seriously know how to word everything so perfectly to make the bride feel at ease). Looking back to the day of the wedding, I went through a variety of emotions. The early morning of our wedding was beautiful & mostly sunny, then when I was getting my hair and make-up done it poured and looked like the rain wouldn’t stop (the weather forecast kept changing) and I was pretty anxious about not being able to have my outdoor wedding or get all the wedding pictures I wanted. Luckily, the sun came out and the clouds cleared. Just as I was getting ready to get in my dress, one of the bridesmaids and family members came in the room asking for the emergency kit and super glue for a “certain someone”. Of course, this made me extremely anxious and nervous about why they needed super glue for the groom. You were wonderful at putting me at ease and saying the right things at the right time. I love how you listened to all my ideas for areas at Ash Lawn for pictures and especially, those road and field pictures. I literally can not stop looking at the pictures and have no idea how to chose which ones to frame. You caught all sorts of emotion from everyone in your pictures.I can’t wait to share the photographs with our friends and family. I loved the sneak peak pictures (yes, pictures!). I can’t believe we were able to see 15 pictures the day after our wedding. We went to Aruba for our honeymoon, and our wifi was pretty slow. I loved seeing our wedding on the blog within days and then receiving the most awaited email.I can not believe how soon we got our pictures. We were still sitting on the beach in Aruba when we got the email. Although we couldn’t look at them all until we got back, I could not be happier. Our pictures are amazing and what’s even better is how amazing you made us feel throughout the whole process. I’d recommend you to any future bride! And hoping we can have you capture more moments of ours down the road:) It feels weird that the whole wedding planning process is over, but I couldn’t be happier with our pictures.”

“First, Jeff and I are overwhelmed with how wonderful are photos are from both our engagement and our wedding… Both of us have been left speechless and emotional with some of the shots that you were able to capture because we see the projection of the feelings that we have inside for one another. It is a very special talent to be able to see through chaos and excitement around you and find a flicker of joy and love. For that, we thank you.

Furthermore, we have not stopped singing your praises to EVERYONE. Jeff and I sat down right after booking our venue and talked about the most important thing that we wanted to walk away from the wedding with… Aside from the whole legalization of our marriage… We wanted everything to be captured and to be captured in the most amazing way. Our expectations were blown away.

Finally, it is not just the quality of the photos that we were pleased with, but the whole experience. From the first contact through our continued discussions after the wedding, we felt understood, respected, and like we had even been friends. Having professional photos taken can sometimes be an intimidating situation, but your encouragement, feedback, awesome new adjectives to describe us, and easy going nature made us fall right into a comfortable place and we genuinely enjoyed our time with you.

Thank You… Just for being you…” <3

You did such an incredible job capturing our wedding! From our engagement pictures to our wedding pictures, everything was perfect. Your fun spirit and laid-back attitude helped put us at ease during the entire process, even when it began to rain on our wedding day! You were always so flexible with our busy schedules when it came to the planning process, and made the photography stress-free. I always felt like you had everything under control, and our pictures turned out better than we could have hoped. I never expected to receive our finished wedding pictures a week later while we were on our honeymoon, what a special moment for us! You were definitely the best choice we could have ever made for our wedding photographer, and I’m sure we will come back to you for anniversary and family pictures in the future. I feel like we gained a friend during this process, and I would recommend Megan Vaughan Photography to my best friend!”

“Working with Megan for our wedding pictures was just a joy. Megan was extremely responsive over email, which kept us at ease knowing she was on top of every aspect, and Megan is very professional in her work yet personable! She and her husband Mitch were delightful to work with every step of the way. They made us feel comfortable during our engagement shoot and wedding day, and allowed us to enjoy and have fun in our pictures. While there were a few stressors on our day and just general nerves, the moment we stepped away with Megan everything became calm, in control, and full of positivity!

Megan accommodated us for special requests, including shots of our rings with the flowers and a night-time shot with sparklers, and they turned out great and are some of our favorite photos. I appreciated that Megan was realistic and up-front with time requirements and limitations of sparkler and sunset pics, but willing to work with us to get what we wanted.

The turnover time for the entire wedding package was incredible – 1 week!! The photos are absolutely gorgeous and captured the emotions of the day beyond our expectations. Megan’s talent really shines through in the results – stunning images filled with laughter, joy, and those solemn quiet moments. I know we will continue to look back at the images and experience our happiness all over again (possibly everyday, because I’m obsessed they are so good!).

From her upbeat emails to supportive nature on our wedding day, Megan made the process smooth and made us feel secure and confident in the moment. We’re extremely happy with Megan’s work and would recommend her to anyone without a doubt — she is definitely someone you can entrust with such a special and emotional event.”

“Photography was THE most important thing to me when it came to vendors for my wedding. When I came across Megan’s website and began talking to her, I immediately knew that Megan was the person that I trusted to capture my big day. She was so prompt, easy to work with, and so sweet! When we first met her at our engagement session, we were both very nervous! Within minutes, Megan had us laughing and feeling like we were family to her! On our wedding day, I couldn’t wait to see Megan again!! Unlike everyone else that day, Megan approached me with a calm demeanor and helped me with everything I needed that day! She went above and beyond the role of a photographer by helping me with my dress, my veil, and multiple other things! I cant say enough great things about Megan, but I think her photography skills alone speak for themselves. My family, friends, and other vendors, have been RAVING about her shots. She is super creative and will find a way to make your pictures unique :) If you want quality photos with a true professional, look no further!!! We love you and cant thank you enough, Megan!!”

She has an eye for light and landscapes that just made all of our photos MAGICAL! We cannot say enough wonderful things about her as a person and as a photographer! “You are extremely talented and it shows in all of the beautiful photos you took! Billy and I love them and appreciate you and Mitch coming out on your anniversary to shoot our wedding! We are so happy we get to share our anniversary with you both :) You are one of the nicest people I have ever met, and you are so calming to be around. Which was greatly appreciated on such an emotional day. You were able to be calm with me when I needed it, but you were also so much fun to be around!

I knew from the beginning that I wanted you to take our wedding photos! The first thing I did after I got engaged was to begin searching for wedding photographers online. I kept getting advice from other brides that said to make sure to choose a great photographer because those memories cannot be recaptured. And you captured our wedding beautifully and our emotions beautifully as well! We knew you were the perfect person to capture our wedding after our engagement session with you. Those pictures were also beautiful! Billy and I felt so comfortable during and after our engagement session.

You have been so wonderful to work with-you are so quick to respond, extremely helpful with any questions, and you’re passionate about what you do. One of our favorite times was sneaking away for sunset photos with you and Mitch. You both are so funny and so comfortable to be around!

Megan, thank you soo much again for the beautiful photos! It is so nice to be able to look back on such a special day and to love the pictures you produced! You are so talented and so genuine! I know that if I ever need professional photos in the future that I will be calling you!”

“You were such a blessing to Matt and I on our wedding day and throughout the entire wedding planning process! You were so easy to work with and you truly made our wedding day spectacular! We really could not have asked for or dreamed of a more incredible photographer for our day.

Photography was THE single most important part of our wedding to me personally. I knew after that one single day, all we will have left, in our eternity together, is our memories and the pictures taken. For this very reason, I wanted the best photographer for our wedding day. I stumbled upon Megan Vaughn Photography while looking up local photographers and immediately fell in love with your work and new I had to meet with you! I already knew that I wanted Megan to photograph our wedding, but after meeting with her I knew I HAD to have her photograph our wedding. She is the sweetest, most kind spirited individual; we just immediately clicked! She is so knowledgeable about her profession and has an evident passion for what she does.

Every session, engagement and bridal, were an absolute blast and so relaxed! Matt and I loved getting to work with Megan and her husband Mitch during our engagement session; they put us both at ease as soon as we got there and made our session so enjoyable!

On our wedding day, Megan was so calming and relaxed throughout the entire day and for this, I am forever grateful! Even when I would start to get stressed or nervous, her calming nature immediately put me at ease. Megan and Mitch were such a wonderful part of our wedding day and we cannot thank them enough! We are over the moon with our wedding day images and all of our other session images! I could not have picked a better photographer for our wedding day! We are immeasurably blessed to have images that we are proud and excited to show off to friends and family and, hopefully, one day our children.

Megan and Mitch, thank you again for making our wedding day so special! We are forever grateful for the two of you.”

I probably took the most time looking for my photographer out of all my vendors. You can never redo your wedding photos and they will be something you cherish and use to remember that special day forever. I wanted perfection! And you were just that! From the moment I saw your photos on Borrowed & Blue, I knew you really have a gift. You do an amazing job at capturing the light, the people, and the scenery, all at the same time!! And we couldn’t have asked for anyone easier to work with, especially for a very camera shy, non-lovey dovey couple! The wedding photos! As you might say, “I die!” as did Rob and I and I think every one of our guests when they came out! They are amazing! Our guests keep asking when they will be published as the cover page on Bridal magazine! We loved every bit of our experience with you! We cannot wait for our next big adventure just so we can ask you to come photograph it! Much love and thanks!”

“If we were to sum up our experience with Megan Vaughan Photography in one word, it would be “thankful”. We are incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to meet Megan and have her shoot the most wonderful day of our lives. Megan has an exceptional talent when it comes to capturing the details of your wedding. Her passion for photography, connecting with her clients, and love for Jesus shine through as she works. She is constantly providing you with feedback, praise, and showering you with compliments. We also absolutely loved having Mitch as our second shooter. Megan and Mitch are a fantastic team. They are professional, hilarious, and capture the special moments of the day. We so appreciate their creativity and willingness to try new things. You are such a talented individual – both with and without a camera. Like most women, I have confidence issues; who wouldn’t in today’s society? But when you shot my bridal portraits and I saw the photos come back, I was in pure awe. I remember you saying ever so confidently, “I’m just shooting what’s already there!” Those words were all I needed to hear to truly enjoy the moment & I think you knew that. The comfort I felt from the moment I met you and your sweet son for a coffee date made me feel like I knew you my whole life. How prepared you were, how amazing you were with my family and my groom, managing all different people and personalities while capturing all of the amazing things we wanted to remember forever… it takes someone special to do all of that, and do it really well. You are truly a blessing for every bride & groom that you grace your talents with. Lots of love from the Foxes. Xoxo”

“You’re a superstar. One thing that I really wanted going into my wedding was to be surrounded by people that loved me and loved Jesus. From the first time I met you, I felt like you loved me. I know, that is so crazy to say, but you exude the love of Christ through who you are as a person and who you are as a photographer. From the very first photo shoot, I knew that I had made the best decision possible. Even in the engagement session, you had a way of making me feel gorgeous and that is not something I often feel as a women in the 21st century. It felt more like you were striving to start a relationship, then just trying to do your job, which I loved. On the wedding day you were all business; like a tough coach that wants their team to do their best. You spoke life and comfort into stressful situations and kept everything calm, cool, and collected. I know I can be a crazy mess, but you were such a blessing to have on our special day. Thank you for joining in on my jukebox moments and silly ideas. Thank you for your words of encouragement and love throughout the whole day. I absolutely adore the photos that you took and how they perfectly portray the essence of who Ryan and I are as a couple. Also, I love watching you and Mitch. It is so special to watch such a successful and loving marriage on the day that you’re getting married. You both are such an inspiration and a blessing to watch. Megan, YOU are an inspiration; you are living out the love of Christ in everything you do. You are making your occupation a mission field and that is what I loved most of all; you’re a treasure.”

“Choosing Megan as my wedding photographer was absolutely the best choice I made in our entire wedding planning process. I’m a huge fan of wedding photography and had followed her work for a while. Every girl has their “dream” aspect of their wedding- whether it’s the perfect dress, flowers, venue- but mine was always my “dream photographer” who was of course, Megan Vaughan! Megan and I started emailing, and I told her that photography was absolutely the most important thing to me on my wedding day. I knew right off the bat that Megan understood my vision and we “clicked” without even meeting in person. She agreed to bring her family up to Maine for our wedding! The planning process of the travel was so simple, and Megan always made things easy, efficient, and stress-free. We had fun emailing back and forth for about a year. I couldn’t wait to finally meet her! On the wedding day Megan arrived ahead of schedule, and as we went through the timeline she had built, the transitions were easy, smooth, and we were even ahead of schedule! Megan has the ability to make you feel so comfortable and like she’s keeping you under her wing throughout the day (that’s clearly why she’s an awesome Mom too!). There was not one moment where I felt nervous or anxious because I knew she was running the show. She made everything fun, exciting, and stress-free. She captured every moment and detail of our entire wedding from beginning to end. The ability that Megan has to capture the FEELINGS of a moment in a still-photo is absolutely incredible. When I saw the photos of our wedding, it was like I got to relive the day all over again and got to see any moments that I may have missed. When looking at the photos I could also remember how I felt in each one which was truly a gift in itself. Megan’s talent as a wedding photographer goes above and beyond what can be put into words. I am ecstatic and grateful that I was lucky enough to be one of her brides this year! Thank you Megan!”

“I don’t really know where to begin, or how to capture how I feel about Megan and her incredible work. I first noticed Megan’s work while I was touring a venue last fall. I saw these beautiful images on the wall and told my fiancé..I NEED to have her take our photos.

Megan was so accommodating right from the start. She was so excited to work with me and moved things around, and made a special Sunday just for our engagement shoot. Our pictures turned out impeccable, and I could barely wait until our wedding day.

On our actual wedding day, Megan made everything seamless. She handled a couple mix-ups with time delay and a minor panic attack from my mother, with such ease. She held my hand, she talked me through it, and she managed to get THE most beautiful pictures I have ever dreamed of. I have been married for two weeks and I all I keep doing is scrolling through all my images over and over. I always said that photography was my most important vendor because I wanted to relive the moment forever. Megan did exactly that. She truly captured the entire essence of the day, and the raw, honest, silly, exciting love that Chris and I share.

I would recommend Megan for anything and everything when it comes to your wedding, advice, or even just being there. She is truly an amazing woman and I am entirely blessed to have had her on this journey with me!”

“Thank you so much for everything you did to help our wedding day go smoothly. It was such a pleasure getting to know you throughout the process, and we were so appreciative with how quickly and kindly you helped us with all of our questions. With as fast as things move on the wedding day, we knew how important it would be to find someone to capture the important moments, while allowing things to be as candid as possible. You did an amazing job of keeping us moving, but still allowing us our space to experience each moment. The photos of our engagement and wedding both are unbelievable, and we will cherish them for a lifetime. Thank you!”

I’m a little biased, as I’ve known you for over 15 years now and have had the opportunity to watch you go from taking pictures of insects and flowers in the back yard to being a highly in demand wedding photographer. Also, the whole marrying my brother and bringing my darling nephew into the world… but the point remains, I’m biased.

I’m also biased because I love good photography. See, taking pictures is something anyone can do, but capturing memories and the emotion in a vanishing moment is hard. Pointing and clicking is easy, creating warmth and genuine connection is hard. You captured the warmth, connection and the emotion flowing through our special day. Snapshots of details that I would never have remembered, except for the fact you froze them in time for me.

I’m also a bit biased because I love talented people. Its easy to surround yourself with moderately talented people and feel good when you rise above it. Its a different thing entirely to be surrounded and elevated by talented people who challenge you. That is pretty much you in every sense. You rise to the occasion and surpasses every expectation set for you. You’ve taken what was a hobby and built a life’s passion. You’ve blown passed your obvious innate talent and have grown into an amazing and inspiring photographer that not only is incredibly good at what you do, but you truly want to help others achieve their vision of their special day.

I’m also biased because I like pretty things. And you excel at pretty things. It’s not just the gorgeous lighting and back drops you picked for our detail pictures, or the secluded romantic feeling of the location of our first look. It was also your ability to catch the small little moments of beauty throughout our entire day. A smile here, and hand hold there, a stolen kiss when no one else was looking. Little things that ultimately aren’t so little. Again, snapshots that wouldn’t have been remembered if it weren’t for you.

I’m MOSTLY biased because I love professionals. If there was one word to describe you through out our entire engagement, boudoir and wedding shoots, it was professional. I appreciated how you took charge and told us exactly what to do and where to go. I absolutely loved how the images turned out for each of the sessions, mostly because I knew that while what we’re doing may feel weird, I could implicitly trust that your vision on the other end was impeccable. The schedule you put together for “Day Of” worked perfectly and kept the day moving with structure and ease.

Lastly, I am biased because I have gotten to see every single session that you’ve put out on your website and have stalked your blog from the moment it launched, waiting for my turn. I love my husband and I am so happy that those moments, (that I definitely do not actually remember) were captured in a way that fully grasp the happiness, joy and celebration our wedding day contained.

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!”

I first met Mitch and Megan Vaughan when they came to my parent’s house as part of a newlywed group that was participating in Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace study. I was currently attending Liberty University and had plans of traveling the world ALONE and never settling down. (Mitch and Megan could tell you this first hand because I made it very known that I was not getting married.) However, I envied the relationship they had and the love they displayed towards each other. I remember when Megan first began her photography business on the side before she became the famous Megan Vaughan that you see displayed all over wedding magazines everywhere. We sort of lost touch when I got my first job after college as I was traveling all over the country and would eventually go overseas. I remember before I deployed I saw Mitch and Megan one last time at my parent’s house and I had to break the news to them. I somehow managed to meet the person I knew God put on this planet for me to spend the rest of my life with, 2 months before I had to go overseas for 6 months. Mitch and Megan were both so excited and just as I had hoped Ryan and I got engaged and married a year later. I say all of that to say this; Megan’s accomplishments as a photographer speak for themselves. The way that she is able to capture lights and colors from the dimmest to the brightest and the perspective she puts on each picture, getting each angle just right, is beyond amazing. Megan however, takes her photography way beyond just beautiful pictures and creates a memory and experience of a lifetime. Prime example was on the day wedding day and Megan could tell how nervous Ryan and I were. She could tell that we weren’t even enjoying ourselves and asked both of us if we would like to do a “first look no peek,” where we could hold hands and talk without actually seeing each other. Eventually we both said yes and I am so glad Megan helped us experience that moment and captured it the way she did. Ryan and I cried together and prayed and cried some more, and all I can do is thank Megan for making that one of the most emotional and memorable moments I will ever have in my life.  Megan is the best photographer on the planet from the professionalism and wonderful experience you get, to the beautiful pictures she takes as an artist with a vision of colors and angles. I am so glad I picked her to capture the most important moments in my life and you will be to.”

My husband and I took a second shot at a wedding and decided to have the big, fun wedding we had always dreamed of. While we decided to stick to a tight budget, we were told repeatedly to invest in a great photographer. When I heard of Megan’s photography and saw her skills I knew I had to have her. Because we were planning about a year in advance, we decided to take our engagement pictures exactly one year before our wedding day. We were, of course, over the moon with Megan’s sweet personality. She had us laughing, talking, and posing like we were pro’s – and we are NOT easy to photograph!!! One year later, when we saw Megan again, it was like no time had passed at all. She remembered small details about us and once again helped keep us so comfortable and relaxed that we never felt pressure or awkwardness in our photos, and it sure does show. I could not have asked for a better photographer. I recommend her to anyone, as she not only took THE best pictures I could possibly ask for, she helped throughout the whole day – with timelines, schedules, and even those cold moments when she covered me with a blanket, which coincidentally, she saw aesthetic in. Even our un-posed blanket pictures are to die for. I’ll show absolutely anyone who will take a minute to peak at the pictures and the reactions are always the same – absolute awe in how beautiful they turned out!!! I couldn’t be more thankful for a photographer like Megan – the pictures were beautiful, the timeline fit so perfectly we had time to spare and relax, our pictures were ready within days, but most importantly Megan was so patient with my crazy group (myself included) and made everyone feel comfortable being themselves. Megan is the best photographer we could have asked for and I want her to follow me around and take pictures for the rest of my life. I can not sing enough praise of how wonderful Megan has been to us.”

Megan, YOU ROCK! The quality of your photos is spectacular! When I first saw your images I knew I wanted you to be my photographer. Every wedding that you photograph looks like it’s out of a magazine. So, naturally, I had really high expectations for my wedding photos…and you NAILED it! You captured every moment and every emotion so perfectly. These photos will be displayed, not only in my home but my family’s homes, for a lifetime. Before we even met, I felt like we were already friends. You were so helpful and insightful on what to expect, what to wear, and the millions of other questions I had. You were lighthearted and positive, and it made Bobby and I feel completely comfortable around you. You made me feel confident and beautiful. I’m so happy to come out of this experience with a new friend :) You have a gift, Megan. We are so thankful to have you as a part of our special day!”

From the moment we signed the contract to when you delivered our final portfolio (within two weeks of our wedding!!), I knew we made the right choice by having you as our photographer.

Your excitement was truly contagious and added so much energy to our photo sessions. Your laid-back energy made us feel incredibly comfortable and your ability to command the wedding party to get the shots you needed allowed us to embrace our special day. You truly caught all of our special moments and yet we never felt rushed or like we were “surrounded” by cameras. Plus, our entire wedding party continues to tell us how awesome you and your husband were on our wedding day. I think they miss you having you around! :)

You truly have such a talent and we are so lucky to have found you. Thank you so much, Megan. We appreciate you and your work more than you’ll ever know!”

I was also blessed to shoot a beautiful 10 year vow renewal. Melissa is a wedding photographer herself, so when she asked me to be apart of her incredibly personal day, I was so, so honored.

“Ten years ago, my husband and I made the decision to “hire a friend.” Our friend was someone who didn’t charge us but a few hundred dollars, and he was someone who loved photography but didn’t work as a photographer. While we love our photos, because they’re ours and they’re still a way to remember our big day, we knew the moment we decided to renew our vows that we needed to hire a professional who could take memories and create art. Someone who knew how to capture the emotion of the day perfectly. As a wedding photographer myself, it’s not an easy decision to make. You ask more questions. You know the worth of the work and the talent. You know your style. But you also know you may hurt feelings choosing one photographer over another. In talking to Megan, though, I instantly felt as though we’d been girlfriends for years. She was excited, she was genuinely interested in hearing our story, and she was on top of all the little details that needed to be taken care before that day. On the day of, my husband and I had the pleasure of seeing Megan and her husband, Mitch, work together as a team, and there was something that stood out most to me about the two of them. Their relationship. The two of them were meant to be in this together, and it shows in how well they worked together and complimented each other. They both have beautifully artistic eyes, and while one was shooting from one angle, the other was finding creative ways to get another perspective. They’re open to each others’ suggestions, they play around, they laugh, and they get it. They get what this is all about. The work they do, individually and together, is a direct reflection of their marriage. They understand the beauty of it. They know the connections, they know the obstacles we overcome, they know the friendship, they know the history, and that’s so visible in the emotion captured in their work. My husband and I and our family still talk about them today. We talk about sitting at our beautiful, long farm table, talking about life and family, about them joining in our prayer before dinner, and about how instantly they became a part of the family. When you have a photographer who gets it and loves it, it shows. It really does. The final result was absolutely beautiful. My husband’s smile – the one that I only see when he looks at me – is now captured and here for me to see. Our oldest’s gorgeous freckles and long lashes, our youngest’s sassy little personality, and our home. The tears, the laughter, the most of all our family…our blessings in this life are now here, in beautifully vibrant images that we’ll have forever, and we couldn’t be more grateful for them, Megan. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

And last but definitely not least, a military elopement! It was so sweet and so simple. Just the bride, groom, pastor and us. No stress, no expectations… just a couple in love and the evening light.

We are so glad that Megan was our photographer! I discovered her when she photographed the wedding of a long-time friend of mine, and after seeing my friend’s photos I fell in love with Megan’s style, her use of light, and the unique way that she captures special moments. I pored over the photos of other weddings that Megan had done, felt equally convinced, and filed her name away in my mind for that day that I might need a wedding photographer of my own.

Fast forward a couple years later and I found myself in love with my perfect match, and we couldn’t wait to begin our lives together! Early on though, I found that planning the “best day of your life” was bringing too much pressure for everything to be perfect. Perfect for me, perfect for us, perfect for our guests. Every decision was spiraling us into a production comprised of too much money, too much time, too much coordination and second-guessing, and WAY too much stress. SO we took the bold step of nixing the formal wedding and started planning an intimate elopement instead! It was the best decision we could have made! We decided to keep only the elements that we loved, while cutting out anything that stressed us too much. And one of THE most important elements that we wanted for our elopement (no compromise!) was amazing photography!

I reached out to Megan with our desire for photography to capture our elopement, and right away, she was on board! If I felt nervous at all about the idea of eloping or that it could result in beautiful photos, I was quickly reassured. From the beginning, Megan was an absolute sweetheart — so excited to hear about my dress and veil and other girly details, psyched about our story and the fact that it was an elopement, super accommodating when it came to options and helpful in arranging the timeline, and she felt like a long-time friend as we chatted about ideas and plans for the day! She kept in close touch throughout the time leading up to the wedding and she was always professional and timely when it came to answering questions. Oh, and she loves Chipotle, so she is a girl after my own heart!

Our elopement day was serene, romantic, and perfect! Megan was so calm, yet somehow she also brought the perfect amount of excitement to the day also. She made me feel comfortable all day long, and she was sweet to help me with my dress and veil and anything else that I needed. She scoped out the perfect place for a “first look” with my husband-to-be, along with other beautiful spots for photos throughout the day. Her eye for lighting and scenic backdrops is impeccable, and in the resulting photos I kept noticing the beautiful expanses of countryside behind us and the golden sunlight that Megan was able to capture. She listened to my ideas for photos that I would love to try, and she also got my Marine Corps officer husband to feel comfortable enough to smile genuinely in front of the camera! When I think back on my wedding day, I remember the gorgeous scenery that surrounded us, the birds sweetly chirping in the serene spot that we chose for our ceremony, the soft sunlight filtering through the trees, and the peace and calm that I felt as I gazed into my husband-to-be’s eyes during our vows. THESE are the moments that I remember most from the day, and that is EXACTLY what Megan’s photographs captured!

In addition to being an incredible photographer, I loved who Megan is as a person and her love for Christ. She and her husband Mitch are adorable together, but they are also the professional and capable duo that you need on the most important day of your life! She and Mitch kept us calm, they made us laugh, they scoped out beautiful photo opportunities, and they were also on-hand to help with last minute details, or with anything that we needed carried, or with transport to the ceremony site. Basically, they went above and beyond delivering stunning photography, and we LOVED having both Megan and Mitch capture our elopement!”
